MGS Refinery Recap: October 2014

October was a quiet month in the refinery. Although sales for our bullion bars were up, the number of people coming in for refinery services was a bit low. However, gold prices have been slowly increasing since the beginning of October – you can watch this trend on our page for historical gold prices. If it continues, the demand for refinery services should increase.

Speaking of which, we have increased our payouts for hand tested gold in order to be even more competitive. Many customers have told us that the highest payout is not always the best offer. We’ve heard stories about refiners dropping gold scraps on the floor during the refining process, underestimating purity levels, or taking a long time to finally pay. At MGS, our 25+ years of business ensure that we are unmatched in terms of accuracy, experience, and customer service. And now, our payout will be higher than ever.

Finally, our annual fundraiser for Breast Cancer Awareness Month was a great success – raising more than $2,000. Of all the goodies available, our homemade apple chips (made with fresh picked, locally grown apples) raised the most donations for Susan G. Komen. A special shout out goes to Megan for putting some serious hard work into making all the apple and popcorn items. Thank you so much to everyone who donated – we hope to see you again next year!
