MGS Refinery Recap: September 2014

For the month of September, there’s not much to report from the business side of things. Both gold and platinum prices went down, bringing our refinery activity to about average. But the good news is that sales of our certified bullion bars went up since the prices were lower this month.

This has also been our first full month doing business under the new silver fix. The new system for determining silver prices has finally gotten some of the modernization and transparency the industry has been calling for. However, the difference isn’t really noticeable here on our side of things. The new silver fix mostly affects the mining and banking industries.

In other news, the preparations for our annual breast cancer fundraiser are underway. Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we will be hosting a weeklong fundraiser at our Diamond District storefront starting on October 6. To raise funds for the Susan G. Komen foundation, we’ll be selling homemade chocolate dipped apples, dark chocolate ribbons, apple chips, and kettle corn. Stay tuned to the blog and our social media channels for more details.
