In our latest entry of Famous Gold Food, we’re taking a look at some rare and expensive spirits. Not everyone considers alcohol to be “food,” but these would be perfect to pair with the gourmet food from our previous entries.
Gold Flakes Supreme: Vodka containing gold flakes is not unheard of, but this spirit from Shaw-Ross Importers stands apart. While most other liquors pair gold with a strong cinnamon flavor, Gold Flakes Supreme is quadruple distilled with underground spring water, 24k gold flakes, and a blend of “secret ingredients.” It’s also quite rare, and bit more expensive than other gold liquors.
Cost: $60 per 750 ml bottle
Gold Cuvee Champagne: This white burgundy (pinot blanc) wine is matured in the champagne cellars of Mainz on the Rhein River in Germany. The bubbly champagne combined with the 22k gold flakes creates quite a show with every pour – which makes it great for entertaining and wishing for wealth during New Year’s celebration.

Henri IV Dudognon Heritage Cognac: As the CEO of the Mexican distillery, Tequila Ley .925, Fernando Altamirano made headlines in 2006 for designing the Guinness World Record holder for most expensive bottle of tequila: “Pasión Azteca” Limited Edition. Thirty-three bottles sold in Mexico, but when he pitched his idea to potential buyers in Dubai, no one was interested, claiming that tequila was not a luxury spirit. Undeterred, Altamirano switched from tequila to Henri IV Dudognon Heritage cognac – an extremely rare, expensive, and revered blend that’s been aged for more than 100 years. To really wow buyers, he designed an exquisite crystal bottle dipped in 24k gold and sterling platinum (think sterling silver, but with some copper replaced with platinum) and decorated with 6,500 certified diamonds – crafted by master jeweler Jose Davalos.
Cost: £1,000,000 or $1,982,300 per 1 liter bottle
